Tianyou Ecological Tea Garden is the source of our Honey Orchid Dancong, Tianyou's Perfume. The garden sits on the main peak of Mount Shuangjiniang, above 1,000 meters, in the Chaoshan region of Guangdong: the home of Phoenix Dancong tea. It's cultivated by Chaozhou Tianyou Tea Industry, and it puts biodiversity and long-term land health at its core.
That commitment is serious and genuine. The garden is planted inside a standing forest of ancient trees rather than cleared land, and it's managed as a self-contained ecosystem with no pesticides, no chemical fertilizers and no growth hormones. Tianyou's tea masters follow a plant-protection philosophy they sum up simply: ecology as the root, agronomy as the foundation, and scientific pest control only as the supplement.
The trees themselves are old. Many of the plants harvested for Honey Orchid are 70 to 80-year-old Baiye Dancong, tended under an estate-style management model built for the mountain's long term vitality.
Rather than spraying for pests, Tianyou lets the ecosystem do that work. Wildflowers and cover plants feed the soil and shelter insect life; that insect life feeds birds and other predators in turn. During the garden's initial site assessment, the team found strong natural populations of spiders, dragonflies, and lady beetles already established. Spiders act as steady predatory anchors, lady beetles keeping scale insects, whiteflies, and aphids in check on their own.
The surrounding tree canopy does its own work too: it shades the tea, regulates temperature and humidity, holds the soil against erosion on a steep mountain, and filters the air moving through the garden. It's a slower way to farm, and it asks more of the people managing it. But it's the reason the same ground can keep producing tea season after season without the inputs most large-scale growers rely on.
