Noriyasu Uejima is a fifth-generation tea farmer in the Wazuka region of the Kyoto Prefecture. Since April of 1977, at the age of 22, he began assisting his father in tea cultivation and retail. After graduating from high school's agricultural tea industry program, he encountered the importance of producing tea that consumers desire. This realization led him to focus on custom tea production, ensuring safety, and environmentally friendly cultivation.
Uejima Sourokuen is a family-run tea garden in Wazuka-cho, Kyoto Prefecture—one of the primary growing regions for Uji tea. Wazuka is responsible for nearly half of the leaf material used in Uji tea production, a tradition that dates back to the 13th century. The farm has been in continuous operation since 1835, stewarded by generations of the Uejima family. Every tea they produce is grown, harvested, and crafted in their garden with care and precision—an expression of place, heritage, and craftsmanship.
