BLACK TEA OLD FASHIONED

A cool weather staple made dry with smoked black tea.

 

1 | STEEP TEA.

Dose 5 grams ZI RAN SMOKE into a teapot. Pour 135 grams (4.5 oz) of 207ºF (97ºC) water over tea, and let steep for 2-3 minutes.

2 | DECANT INTO MIXING GLASS.

Do so.

 

3 | ADD BITTERS, SYRUP, AND ICE.

Add 20 grams (.5oz) maple syrup, 2-3 dashes Angostura bitters, and a couple handfuls of ice to tea.

4 | MIX.

Stir thoroughly until well-chilled.

5 |  POUR.

Pour into a 6 oz rocks glass or coupe glass.

6 | GARNISH.

Peel a 1/2" sliver of fresh orange, taking care not to get any white pith. Squeeze in half over the drink to spritz oils, rim the glass with the peel, and drop in. Serve.
